Hope to Oban
H20 aims to serve young people by helping to meet their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs through innovative and dynamic Christian youth work
The H2O youth work team spend a large proportion of their time in and around Oban High School, both informally around the corridors and social areas and as key members of the Chaplaincy team. They support some classroom work, provide a regular prayer space for pupils, assist with conferences and lead assemblies.
H2O also provide and coordinate occasional larger-scale events. To date these have included Celtic Praise (inter-church music and praise evenings), The H2O Lock-in at Atlantis( through the night event for all S1 high school pupils) , Wacky, Wet and Dry (Outdoor activities event), Fischy Music, action song event for Primary school children for example.(www.fischy.com )
H2O have a close partnership with the SSC, a Club for the Youth of Scotland, and provide support for their national summer camps at Struan, area weekend camps and occasional special events. www.thessc.org
H2O was formed in 2003 by folk from many of the churches in the Oban area. Prayer support is central to the work of H2O and a monthly prayer supper takes place at The Well, the H2O centre on Lochavullin Rd. This is at 8pm on the first Sunday of the month.
