Argyll & Bute Council Active Schools    (Oban Cluster)

Active Schools is a national programme managed by sportscotland and financed by the national health budget. Each local authority has an Active Schools team whose primary aim is "to get more children more active more often".

Our programme includes sports and activity festivals, competitions, after school clubs, active play and active travel. Through a co-ordinated  partnership approach we link in with existing providers, assist with the development of local volunteers through training and guidance, provide support and resources to new and established clubs, and work to establish sporting pathways for children.

Each active Schools Co-ordinator works within a designated schools cluster and work closely with Head Teachers to develop extra curricular programmes, form school and local sports club links, and offer resources and training for teachers and staff.
